UMBRIA

As they say: small is beautiful.

UMBRIA, situated in the heart of Italy, is one of its smallest regions. Often called “Green Heart of Italy” it is characterized by gentle landscape with vineyards rolling hills, fertile valleys, forests and romantic lakes.

In UMBRIA there are 2 DOCG (denomination for controlled and guaranteed origins) zones. Those are Torgiano Rosso Riserva and Montefalco Sagrantino. Then, on South West of Umbria, there is the area of Orvieto, historically famous for white wines. It's a DOC, not DOCG though. There is the probably most important and internationally notorious white wine from Italy: Cervaro della Sala, by Antinori.

It is to be noted, that one of the most peculiar things from Umbria region is the black truffle of Norcia (winter one is way much better than summer one). Many people never had black or white truffle. In Umbria there are both, while Vintrips knows very well places specialized in cooking each and every dish with truffle.
